Re: Site Suggestions

I like sigs as they are. Noticeable, yet not too obtrusive. Some sites don't really police on sig size, and then people end up having giant pictures that take up space of a decent post.

I hate inb4.  What if I waltzed into your kitchen as you were getting ready to eat breakfast, ate all your cereal, then yelled "IN BEFORE BREAKFAST!!!"?

No offense, but some of these suggestions are downright silly. After all, it's "Site Suggestions" not "Pimp my Forum."

I think we should stick with a simple, not entirely featureless, down-to-earth forum. Use your imagination for polls and a maybe even a spellchecker. After all, imagination is a wonderful vessel for communication.

Re: Site Suggestions

A "Rep" or Reputation system thingy would be pretty sweet. I already have an idea how it would work with the points and ect. But it would be up to the Administators to do the coding for I am useless in that area.

What could happen is there could be a "Thanks" button along side the Report and Quote buttons. A member would click this button in if the other member helped them out or had a good idea or thread. Each time the button would be clicked it is +5 Reputation.
You ask how we would view the reputation? Below your Username and Usertitle could be the Reputation symbols. They are used on several websites and they works something like this.
You get a dull green bar when you have 100 Repuation. http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/images/reputation/reputation_green.gif
At 200 rep you can either have two dull green bars or a light green. http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/images/reputation/reputation_greenh.gif
A gold bar is when you have up to 300 rep.http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/images/reputation/reputation_gold.gif
Or you could hav 3 dull green bars. :p

Now when you get into a bigger reputation count, stars are added.
When you reach 1000 rep, a bronze star will be awarded. http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/images/reputation/reputation_bronzestar.gif Anything from 1100-1999 would have the star and green and gold bars.

When you hit 2000 rep you have 2 bronze stars. http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/images/reputation/reputation_bronzestar.gif http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/images/reputation/reputation_bronzestar.gif

Once you hit 3000 rep. Yes, that is alot, some will never reach 1000. But at 3000, you recieve a silver star below you username and usertitle. http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/images/reputation/reputation_silverstar.gif
When you have any rep between 3000-5000 you will have bronze stars with the silver.
And ofcorse, a gold star for anything above 7000. It is a ridiculous amount and only probably capable by being an overly-active administator.

I know! Don't even get started on how it would be a pain. Some will cheat for their rep and boost it with other accounts. Secretly have other members Rep them just so they look cool.

Trust me, i've seen all of it before. It can be a huge hassle if the community can be mature. If they can't handle it, you simply take it away. It is easy to see if they are boosting their rep if that is what you see a problem in. If a member thanks them on a post that is inrelavent on the topic, and isn't even Rep worthy, it becomes obvious and the solution would be to ban the member.

Tell me what you think. I kinda rambled on about it. It is just a suggestion anway.

Re: Site Suggestions

That's actually a really good idea. I've been to countless amounts of other forums where they have these.

Wow. That's a good idea. Maybe we could have a 'avoid' button like on xbox live.

On your gamercard there are 5 stars. That is called 'rep'. You can write a good review, bad review, or no review. You can choose that the player is helpful, that is positive. I forget the other positive things though. For negative, you can say that they trash talked, were unsupporting, player skill was too high or too low for the match. And a few other things. We could say 'avoid' for when the help wasn't related at all, or other things.
