Xbox 360: where has the Conquest gone?

What I am writing is weeks overdue. Where are people in the conquest rooms for 360? I remember in the summer where there would be at least one good conquest room up. Tons of awesome conquest players have stopped playing 90 percent of the time--Ragtime, SOR panic, Giaquinto, Kyler, Max, Oneshot, Mime. Heck, I even miss Chris and Piggilz and they weren't even very good...I'm sure I'm not doing you all justice, but you guys get the point. Please get out the dumb TDM and HTDM and get into to the Conquest rooms--they and at least twice as fun in my opinion. The online community for this game is going at a alarmingly high rate...

Re: Xbox 360: where has the Conquest gone?

Jackrabbit,

I agree. I too miss the conquest Mode. I still hold to my opinion that the conquest mode is the most strategy driven mode and that's why I bought the game in the first place. The problem is, you have to sit in an empty room and invite people from other games to get anyone back into it. THEN once a game starts picking up the server crashes and BLAM everyone goes back to other modes.

I think you'll see once the leaderboards reset again people will get back to it with a little more frequently. Have faith. smile

I will however stand up in defense to what you said about Pgigglz and Chris. They are both GREAT players! I honestly think people need to spend less time bashing other players, especially if they want people to stick around. Pgigglz and Chris are better certain things at this game then anyone else and I can vouch for that fact.

I also feel people need to spend less time BASHING this game if they are worried about the community of players leaving these forums. Obviously Pandemic was rushed for time when making this game because they were losing there license. Are there things that are dissapointing that they didn't add or fix? Sure. Is this game still fun when you are in a full room of 16? ABSOLUTELY! There are things we CAN ALL DO to keep the player community thriving but it involves more communication and less negativity.

Word, Mime!

As for the whole Conquest thing, I do believe there will be more people that join Conquest rooms. I myself have been doing deathmatch alot lately, and I'm pretty tired of walking in on glitchers and spammers. I will start inviting more people into the matches, and even get some DLC going cool

Remember, the way to populate the Conquest rooms is patience. You can't force anyone into doing something they are not into, but we'll wait for the day when we get back to Conquest matches, where the sun is always shining and glitchers get justice by everyone from Mime to Chris79 big_smile

Re: Xbox 360: where has the Conquest gone?

VERY WELL SAID Mr. Stacked smile

I second what you say about the glitchers and boosters. Its sad when I see people running away from battles (or leave teammates to die or worse intentionally not heal  SO THAT THEY DIE.) just to go capture a white territory! (I will not say who do this. I think we already know who the culprits are.) It has left a bad taste in ALOT of peoples mouths.

Much worse is when you enter these rooms and you quickly get a message asking you to leave BECAUSE they are boosting! Sheesh! At least they are honest about it I guess...

It is REALLY BAD in CTR however. I do feel sorry for those legit players left in that mode. Right now TDM and HTDM are the only escape. I will however be making a return back to conquest in hopes we can get it thriving again but we need to keep the game more cohesive with making sure we don't lose any good players from the game in general smile

All you guys need to do is invite me. I've always been an activist for conquest mode but I'm just as happy playing TDM at the moment. All it takes is the suggestion and I'm in. I dropped in on a hell of a conquest server last night - must have been a full moon or something because all sorts of old school WC players were in there. I would have stuck around longer if it wasn't 230am where I live :-/

Chris79 and pgigglz are good players imo. Maybe they're not the most aggressive players & that's why you don't notice so much? They're a tough fight though.

Whenever I catch boosters I go & kill them repeatedly until they leave big_smile. I don't care all that much though.. points just don't really matter to me any more. I dunno if they ever did.. yeah maybe it mattered when I was still not a very good player lol. These days I try to play conquest like it should be played - say someone's coming up on me & Mime capturing a territory and an enemies are on the way, I'm going to sacrifice my 100pts to kill/delay them before they get there & hopefully Mime gets the capture before the fight reaches him. Other times, I run ahead of my team to get a head start on the next base or try to sneak one that the other team isn't paying attention to.. or just distract/split up the other team. Point hoarding is boooring.

The reason I don't play conquest so much is because players end up just going in circles capping points and never fighting. No one even tries to defend, and also so often it just becomes a mage spam in conquest. 6 mages go from one base then go to the next and throw all their firewalls. No one has a chance to stop them.  Although if this isn't happening it is a very fun mode. I just wish now that there could be CTR going on a lot more as it's my fav mode.

First off, Mime, call me Blitzkrieg. Once I get a Microsoft points card I'm changing back to blitzkrieg boys wink

Secondly, I have been, and still need to work on my scouting for this specific reason, Jonathan. I really admire people like Smirv and Ragtime Jazz, who will willingly turn around, sacrificing their points, just to get a backstab on one of the enemies who are capturing. After this, they quickly roll, or run, away before you can kill them. This means they slowed down the capture process for the enemies, helped their team get ahead capture-wise, didn't die, and most importantly, punked the other team big_smile

The Mage class has had enough time in the sun, as we all know. The archer, sadly, has become the posterboy for The Glitchers and Campers Association with all the multi-shots and camping. The warrior finally has the recognition and popularity it deserves, showing the bold and powerful side of all those who dare to master it, thanks to the new Mithril Knights and the teachings of Giaquinto. Now, it's the scouts turn. It's time for the scouts to gain popularity, as I will do my best to help its popularity grow like the warrior. Sure, there are warrior legends, mage legends and especially archer legends, but now is the time of the scout.

Getting back to Conquest, though, I think we agree on one thing; it's up to us to repopulate. Spread the word, tell everyone you know, even have a party if you have to but we gotta get back into the swing of things.

Yeah lol right after I posted this I went online and there was a great conquest room (DOPE!) I should scout more but a really suck at it. Btw, how can you backstab a SPRINTING warrior--Ragtime can do this but it keeps me puzzled. Yeah Mime I will say that Pigglz at least deserves some reconition as he is a good mage and gives lots of heals. I'm not quite ready to say that for Chris. Mime I do apperciate your optimism...we need someone around like you smile

JackRabbit,

I guess you can just call me Optimist Mime smile

Seriously though I will start sending invites out to everyone then to just try to keep the ball rolling. We can still shape this game even if they are no longer working on it. Things like tournaments are a great start! I think we need to keep doing things that brings the community together ESPECIALLy since we've all played together everyday for months. I think perhaps some sort of War Games type thing that lasts the entire month. (whether it be by clans or just individuals. Not necessariy point based but based more on tracking team wins and losses.)

I am thinking of something but it would take people to get behind it. I'll be gone for a couple days but if anyone has any great idea post them or send me a message on XBL. Mime999

yah it'd be fun to get some full blown clan wars going. Although it would need to be organized it would definitly help to repopulate it.

It's a great game? Ok, care to explain why the graphics aren't even up to par with games released 2 years prior? Care to explain the shallow gameplay, or the mediocre SP campaigns (Evil was the best campaign, and even then only the first level was really good), even the multiplayer (what Pandemic focused on) wasn't that good. You should pay attention to the ratings, because those guys are payed to go up on stage and tell you how good the game is, they've played good and bad games. I'm pretty sure they know what they're talking about.

The game is amazing. One of my favourite ever. I've played it a huge amount. It's great fun and the online community is awesome.

I disagree about the graphics, particulalry on Xbox, and I don't care that much about surface apperance anyway.

The reviewers from magazines have a short window of time to play a game. This game takes many weeks of play to bring out its tactical depth. The warrior, in particular, is a subtle character to master (hence why it has somewhat become the "glamour" class).

I think the ratings were probably crap because of the PS3 version. The game is pretty rough around the edges on PS3 compared to 360 (sorry, but it's true). In my opinion the whole strength of the game is in the online MP aspect. For me, the SP campaigns are just there so you can get good enough to play online. It's a game of tactics and skill rather than a novelty. It is NOT an RPG and it's NOT really an addition to the LotR mythology. It's a fantasy medieval battle game with a great community of players, which happens to have a LotR theme. It has its flaws but it's a great concept that seems to have just suffered from being rushed to market too quickly.

P.S. The graphics are just fine - it takes a hefty amount of computational power to handle them if nothing else. If you don't like the game DESIGN that's a different matter. The graphics aren't realistic and super-detailed but again.. it's not an RPG. There are plenty of novelty play-through-once games out there if it's not your bag. But yeah, I can see how some people were disappointed at the result compared to their expectations.

It's all based on opinion. The community is one of the best I've ever known, each class is fun to use and master, and the online multiplayer is great. Agreed, the campaign is a bit... brief. The graphics aren't important because we have pretty much reached a point where nearly all games graphics are good, so they don't matter. It's just the very fact that you need skill, strategy, and a good personality to get ANYWHERE in this game regarding online play. I can see your point of view, but you also have to see my point of view.

I suppose it is just opinion, but Conquest just didn't do LOTR justice for me, and the multiplayer aspect is better in other games.  From what I've seen, it does have a good community though.
